Weigh-in: 10 July 2010

Today's weight: 159.0 kg (350.5 lbs)
Change: -0.8 kg (1.7 lbs)
Total loss: 36.1 kg (79.6 lbs)

Another good result, considering that I haven't exactly been eating rabbit food (nor do I intend to). Meat loaf on Saturday night was OK, but after using a half a cup of white wine for the recipe, I ended up drinking the rest of the bottle with dinner. Oops!

Then it was enchiladas on Sunday (yum!), baked fish and roasted potatoes on Monday, baked chicken and  mac & cheese on Tuesday, spaghetti on Wednesday, left-over spaghetti on Thursday, and lamb and lentil stew on Friday.

One new thing I tried this week was baking bread. Nothing fancy, just basic white bread. The first loaf was okay, but a little undercooked in the middle. I tried again on Friday, left it in the oven for 5 more minutes, and it was great. I brush it with butter before it goes in the oven, which gives the crust a nice crunch, and a delicious buttery flavor. I'm going to keep practicing with a few more loaves, and once I'm making consistently-good bread, I'll try adding a few flavorings, and also using better flour.

I thing I enjoy most about cooking from scratch is taking a few basic ingredients and putting something together that tastes amazing.
