Went for a walk with Tom this morning, and nearly went to Subway for lunch. But decided that if I wanted a sandwich, I could make it at home and save the cash I would've blown. So we came home and I made a very nice ham and cheese sandwich. But rather than just having a plain sandwich, I made a grilled ham and cheese instead. Good idea? I'm not sure, but I hope so. I did it after thinking a lot about leptin and fat and protein and carbs, etc. Take yesterday, for example.
For lunch I had the leftover curry chicken and tomato pilaf, which was a bit light on chicken. Tasted great, but my stomach was growling less than 3 hours later. That meal was reasonably low fat (mainly from the curry paste), moderate in terms of protein (from the chicken), and loaded with carbs (from the rice). On the other hand, the sardine meal last night was high in fat and protein, but low in carbs. Yet after eating that meal, I didn't start to get hungry until over 12 hours later (of course, I was asleep for 5 of those hours, but still).
So by adding butter and a little extra cheese to the sandwich, and eating it along with some leftover chop suey, I've added extra fat and I'm interested to see if that might help me go a little longer before I need to eat again. Will it help my body increase production of leptin and decrease production of ghrelin for longer than if I'd just had a plain sandwich, or if I'd just gone to Subway? I hope so.
Right now I just feel tired and want a NAP!
