Saturday Fitness Games

I didn't go for a daily walk yesterday, but instead, I spent over a hour "playing" Wii Fit. I wa puffing and sweating more after that than at the end of a walk, so I guess it's okay to consider it a reasonable substitute.

Karen bought me the Wii balance board over a year ago, but it turned out that I couldn't use it because I weighed over 150kg. At the time, I had no idea that I weighed that much. It was a big shock. Of course I'd get an even bigger shock later on when I found out that I weighed a LOT more than 150kg.

So now I've finally lost enough weight that I can use the thing, so now I'm going to try to get in a daily walk AND at least a half an hour on Wii Fit. And if that works out okay, then I might look into getting some of the other fitness "games" that use the balance board.

In other news, things went pretty well food-wise yesterday. I ended up having a small "lite cut" steak, salad, and curly fries (tried to get a baked potato, but they don't offer that option with lunch), and a Coke.

The steak was okay, but I can do better at home for half the price. They serve their steak with a lot of seasonings and sauces because the meat itself doesn't have much flavor. And the texture didn't seem to be as nice, either.

Then for dinner, we had pork chops and lentils with spinach. The lentils were excellent. I've never really eaten lentils much before (never even heard if them growing up), but I'm liking them more and more. But the pork chops didn't really do much fir me. The flavor of the pork was okay, but I overcooked them (I'm still not used to using an electric stove again), and the apricot-mustard glaze didn't really add anything. I'll try the pork chops again with a different recipe, but I think I just like the butterfly chops/medallions better.

And to finish up, I'm going to remind myself that I'd like to have some kind of Mexican meal some time next week. I'm hoping that if I make a note of these kinds of things as they come to mind, it might help me get more organized with the meal planning.
