Spring Hill Beef

I've got no complaints when it comes to the meat I'm getting from Jordo's, but I figure it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for alternatives. So I'm adding a link here for Spring Hill Beef Hampers. Their main product is grass-fed Angus beef from the Southern Highlands, but they also deliver free-range chicken, lamb, and pork. And also sea salt, organic honey, olive oil, mustards, mayonnaises, chutneys, and all sorts of other things.

The thing is, they only sell in bulk, so I think the minimum order is around $200. That gets you around 18kg (40 lbs) of meat, including sausages, a roast, and a bunch of different steaks, from sirloin to little minute steaks. All very nice, I'm sure, but it would take more planning and budgeting than I'm looking for right now.

But definitely something to keep in mind.

Mexican Groceries Online

I'm throwing a couple of links here so that I don't lose them. I've been avoiding recipes for Mexican food because 9 times out of 10 I don't have one or more essential ingredients. But I wants me some Mexican food, dammit! Luckily, I've managed to track down a few companies that sell Mexican groceries, so I'm going to give a couple of them a shot.

Monterey Mexican Foods has dry pinto and black beans, lots of dried peppers and chile powders, canned tomatillos, and more.

Mexico Direct has a much smaller range of products, but they've got a couple of things I might be interested in, including agave syrup.

And Chile Mojo doesn't sell Mexican groceries so much as it sells hot sauces and things that happen to include some Mexican groceries. But a couple of their products I'm interested in are their tortilla presses, and their extensive range of seeds. Actually, their hot sauces and BBQ sauces looks pretty damned good, too.

Jordo's Chop Shop

This is mainly just a note to myself, because I've found an online butcher that sells organic, free-range, grass-fed beef, lamb, and pork, plus a lot of cool game/"exotic" meat, some of which (bison, goat, croc, emu, venison, rabbit, and roo) I've had before and like, and some of which (camel, possum, and water buffalo) that I can't remember ever eating before.

Jordo's Chop Shop is the name of the place, and they offer free delivery on orders over $50. Sweet!

They also smoke their own bacon, ham, and jerky, make some damned-fine looking sausages, and some high-quality offal (lambs brains, beef and lamb hearts, beef tongue, etc) that ought to make some excellent "Weird Food" moments for James this summer.

I can't wait to give Jordo's a try!
