I guess it's a good thing I haven't had any missions of the day lately, because if I had, I wouldn't have accomplished them. Unless they were to sit in front of the computer all day trying to plan a vacation. Holy hell, what a pain in the ass!
But I think we've finally narrowed it down, not only to the state we want to visit, but even the city. I think we've decided that we're going to Melbourne. We spent a big chunk of the weekend trying to figure out what we'd do while we were there, and an even bigger chunk trying to find a place to stay. We haven't got that worked out yet, but I think we're at least starting to get close.
I kinda miss the days when playing a trip (they couldn't really be called vacations) consisted of working out how far I could drive and still have enough gas to make it back home, and then just picking a highway and going wherever.
Okay, enough about the vacation. Other than that, I haven't been doing much of anything, including going for a walk. It's been raining, and while I went out yesterday for a half an hour or so, it's raining a little bit harder tonight, and I'm going to chicken out and stay inside where it's warm and dry. I made it 15 days in a row, and I think that's pretty good. I'll beat that record before Christmas!
On the food side of things, I've been doing pretty good. I've been going with the soups for lunch, and then a nice dinner, and it's mostly working. The Croatian Beef Stew turned out pretty damned good. I ate extra beef and less dumpling, and washed it down with more of the wine that went in it. On Sunday, the Tuna Noodle Casserole didn't do a lot for me, but the kids like it, and it's easy, so what the hell. And tonight's dinner was pork chops and roasted vegetables, which included Brussels sprouts, which turned out to be pretty good.
And the pork, from Jordo's, was excellent. I was going to do the sear-and-bake technique like I did with the steak, but Karen was roasting veggies too, so there was no more room in the oven. So I just cooked them on the stove, and they were fine. So far, everything I've tried from Jordo's has been great, so I'm hoping I get to buy meat from him on a regular basis. I want another one of those steaks!
