Beans and rice for lunch, and a delicious slow-cooked pot roast with veggies for dinner meant that Saturday was a good day, food-wise. Another after-dinner walk into town and back took care of the exercise part, and even though the whole way home I kept thinking I'd enjoy a couple of beers when I got back, somehow I ended up with vanilla ice cream instead. Go figure.
I was surprised that, while it wasn't quite as dead as on Friday night, the town center was still pretty desolate on a Saturday night. Even though there aren't any bars in town, I've driven through and seen pretty good crowds in the various restaurants and cafes at other times. But not last night.
I noticed that the Cook & Grocer is going out of business (unless they find a suitable buyer). That's a bummer, because while I wasn't a customer, I really liked what they were doing, and I probably would've been, if they stayed open. Looking around at the number of places that were empty (or nearly) last night, I'm expecting more closures before the end of the summer.
