3-Minute Rule

Weigh-in tomorrow at 8 am. My last weigh-in at a meeting was waaaay back on  the 20th of November. Eight weeks ago. Two months ago I was down to 149.7. I'm not sure what the scales are going to say in the morning, but I know the results aren't going to be good. The exercise this week has definitely helped, but the lack of meal planning and too much snacking are going to kick my ass. And on Sunday we're going to Sydney for a couple of days, and I'm not planning to lead a very healthy and wholesome lifestyle. But after that, then I'll get my shit together. For real. I mean it! :)

Tonight was burger night, and after dinner the boys and I watched a bit of TV (they're hooked on Eureka, and we've been watching an episode or two almost every night for the last couple of weeks), and then I read for a while. I was thinking about heading to bed, when I realized that I hadn't done any exercise today (a bit of running around with Tom at the park, but that doesn't count).

First I said fuck it, then I decided that I'd get on the cross-trainer, even if it was only for one song. Because hey, 3 minutes is better than nothing, right? And to totally back up my feeling that the most important thing is just getting started, I hadn't even done a minute-and-a-half before I'd changed the plan. I'd decided to do 3 km, and do it faster than the 11 minutes it took me the other day.

Almost immediately, I set my goal at 10 minutes. When I was behind at the 1 km mark, I figured I could push myself a little harder and make up the time. When I was still behind after 5 minutes, I was a lot less confident. It turns out it was harder than I thought. I didn't make it in 10 minutes, but I did beat my previous time. I did the 3 km in 10 minutes and 20 seconds. My new record.

And I figure that if 3 minutes is better than nothing, then 10 minutes and 20 seconds is shitloads better than nothing, right?
