Today's Weight: 165.6 kg (365 lbs)
Change: -0.7 kg (1.5 lbs)
Total Loss: 29.9 kg (65.9 lbs)
After a pretty weird week of yo-yo weigh-ins, it turns out that in the end, I managed to lose a few hundred grams. First I dropped to 165.5, then went up to 166.8 (over my starting weight last Monday), dropped back down to 165.4 later in the week, rose back to 166.3 on Sunday, then down for a moderate loss this morning.
Essentially, all I've done is eliminate most of the carbs from my diet. No bread, no dairy (except for a little milk in my coffee), no pasta, etc. Mostly, just meat, eggs, vegetables, and beans. And instead of the massive Saturday binges I was doing before, my indulgences were limited to a bottle of bourbon (and Coke) on Friday night, a slice of pizza and a Coke for lunch on Saturday, and a couple bites from Tom's ice cream sundae on Saturday afternoon. I got on the cross-trainer a couple of times early in the week, but didn't go near the thing after Wednesday.
I'm not really tracking my food or calories or anything, just limiting the carbs and eating when I'm hungry. And occasionally when I'm snackish. I'm going to stick with that plan this week, and try adding in a little more exercise.
I'm a little bummed out that at best, it's likely to take me all of autumn to get back under 150 kg, and then all summer to see a signficant improvement. Looking back through my records, I was at 165.9 kg way back in May, 2010. 15 months later and I'm back there again. Before that, I'd lost nearly 30 kg in 14 weeks. If I'd kept that trend going, I would've hit my goal weight before the end of February, 2011. Now I'll be lucky if I get down to 130 kg by the end of February, 2012.
Oh well. Tough shit. That's the way it goes when you don't bother doing anything for 5 months, and really, except for the one month of slow carb, I didn't put much effort in for seven months before that. So that sucks, but it's important that I keep all that in mind, but also focus on what I'm doing now, and on my plan for improvement in the future.
My goal for August is to lose 8 to 10 kg. After the first week, I'm on track to lose around 2.5 to 3 kg. If that's where I end up, it's a hell of a lot better than putting on 4 or 5 kg, which is what I've been doing for the last few months, but it's not where I want to be. So I'm going to work harder this week.
