Footy Food

Jack and I had a great time at the Raiders game (the Raiders won, 20 to 13), and I'm not going to have to walk an extra 50 km (31 miles) to make up eating "footy food".

Jack bought a cup of chips and a Coke about 4 seconds after we entered the stadium. I grabbed myself a Bundy and Coke and nursed it for half the game (partly because I was being a responsible grown-up who had to drive when we left, but mainly because we were sitting in the middle of the row, and I would've had to stomp on/crawl over a half dozen people to get out at go get another one), and shared a few of Jack's chips.

Then at half time, Jack went and got himself a meat pie and another cup of chips. While he was trying valiantly to eat the pie without making a total mess of himself, I somehow managed to eat about 3/4 of his chips (oops!), so when he finished his pie, he went back and got himself another cup (and protected it from his greedy chip-stealing father as best he could).

After the game, I took a little detour into the city. We strolled around Petrie Plaza, City Walk and Garema Place, just checking out the night-life. Around 9 o'clock, I thought it was time to have some dinner, so I grabbed a grilled chicken burger (not really any healthier than a meat pie, but at least it had lettuce on it) and Jack got some spring rolls from some little noodle place.

So in the end, I had a great time going to the footy with my son, and while doing that I ate some junk food. But by parking 15 minutes away from the stadium and walking there and back, plus walking around the city for an hour or so, I got a little bit of exercise to help counteract the scarfing of the chips. Sweet!
