Wow, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. Oops! I'd say that it's because I've been so busy, but that would be a lie. It's more likely that it's because I've been lazy, and when I wasn't being lazy, I was doing other things besides blogging.
One thing I haven't been busy doing is exercising. After a few tough sessions on the cross-trainer, and cleaning the garage on Friday, I ended up in a lot of pain. I'm not sure whether it was the lifting or the cross-training, but at some point, something in my abdominal wall tore a little bit more, making my hernia worse. So I was hurting and fairly non-functional for a day or so, and then once it eased up a bit, I still wasn't particularly eager to jump back on the cross-trainer. I shouldn't have been doing it without wearing my hernia belt, and I don't want to wear my hernia belt while I'm on the thing because I sweat so much, it'll destroy the thing.
So I think that if I'm going to keep doing the cross-trainer, I'll need to buy a second hernia belt. Which probably isn't a bad idea anyway, but it's going to have to wait until we can work on the budget a little bit to cover the cost. It's a custom job, and it ain't cheap.
But I haven't been a complete couch potato. Jack and I went to CanCon (annual gaming convention) on Sunday, then Subway for lunch, then we dropped by the house, picked up Tom, and went to the park for an hour or so. Then on Monday, I took all three boys to the park for a couple of hours. And today, we were supposed to get up early and go out for Australia Day, but with predictions of a high temp of 37C (98.6F), I decided that we'd stay home this year.
So instead of standing in line for an hour to get breakfast in Commonwealth Park, we had a nice family breakfast (pancakes and sausage), and instead of standing in line for an hour so the kids could play in a jumping castle or get their face painted or put on a sumo suit, we just hung out at home, playing video games, reading, and watching the State of the Union speech. All in air-conditioned comfort.
