I guess I should've written a long post about what a big year 2010 turned out to be, but I've been too busy enjoying 2011. We didn't do anything special for New Years. We had a family movie night (we've been watching some "classics" - Tron on Thursday, last night was Independence Day), then hung out until time to watch the Sydney fireworks on TV. We thought about going into the city to watch the fireworks here (they do a "family" version at 9:00), but in the end we decided to wait until Tom's a year older. He still prefers to be in bed by 8, and it doesn't seem very sensible to screw with that.
I ended up drinking about two-thirds of a bottle of Maker's Mark, so I was enjoying myself just fine, anyway. One-many party. No problem. :)
Fell asleep somewhere between 1 and 2, and woke up just before 7 when Tweedledum and Tweedledee got into an argument about who got to play Xbox first. Have I mentioned lately how much I love being a father? ;-) Oh well, my getting up meant Karen got to have a rare sleep-in. And she took full advantage of it, finally dragging her ass out of bed around 10.
With an expected high today of 34°C (94°F), we'd already decided to have a nice, lazy day inside. And we did. From around 8:30 to 9:30 I lay on the trampoline (it's not as good as a hammock, but it's not bad) and enjoyed the beautiful weather before the heat kicked in. Then once Karen was awake and could take her shift as Responsible Parent, I chilled out on the couch, reading and surfing the web on the iPad. Then after lunch, I went upstairs and read in bed, had a nap for an hour or so, and just generally enjoyed being lazy. And cool.
We had fried rice for dinner, and the chicken from Jordo was excellent. The tamarind, lime and chilli marinade gave it a nice flavor, and I let it do its thing. The only thing I added was a little soy, and it was beautiful.
As soon as I post this, I'm heading out for a little after-dinner walk. Yeah, I know. Tough life. But that's one of the reasons for losing weight and getting healthy, right? To enjoy a few of the finer things in life.
But anyway, to get to the point of this post. My New Year's Resolution. Well, my goal for 2011, anyway. Which is pretty simple. To lose another 100 pounds.
Another 45 kg loss will get me down to 100 kg (220 lbs). I think the last time I weighed 220 was probably about 20 years ago. 2011 is going to be the year I get my body back.
